The Big Bang Theory=Big Laughs

I can’t quite figure out why but The Big Bang Theory cracks me up every week. I think what makes this show work is not the writing although the writing is amazing. I always wondered who writes Sheldon’s lines. Is it someone super smart who knows every big word in the human language or is it someone who reads dictionaries all day long to write Sheldon’s dialogue. If anybody has a picture of the writer or knows a little something about him I’d be interested to hear it. Anyways, back to what makes The Big Bang Theory hilarious. I think it’s that every character fits so well together on this show. It’s like a jigsaw puzzle. If one piece is missing it ruins the entire puzzle.

Sheldon, whom I believe to be the star of the show, is brilliant. I wonder how many nights he practices his lines over and over again to memorize them. His script is the most difficult script I’ve ever heard in my life! I can barely pronounce one word in his script let alone the slew of complicated scientific facts he spews every episode. He’s also funny with all of his rules, OCD tendencies and over thinking every situation in his life. I will admit I do like Penny although I think she appeals to the male audience more. Her character is the dumb blonde. She never quite grasps any of the conversations the socially awkward “geeks” are having and her knowledge of Star Trek and comic books  is quite lacking which everyone always finds appalling. Howard Wolowitz and Rajesh are the two characters that make me laugh the hardest. Howard is goofy, has no idea how to deal with women and his loud wardrobe alone makes me crack up before he even speaks. Rajesh has the funny tourist character who can’t speak to women unless he’s drinking alcohol but has more luck with the ladies than his overly confident friend Howard. Leonard is funny in his own way and he’s the only one in the group who ends up dating Penny. The new character Amy Farrah Fowler, Sheldon’s friend but others believe to be his girlfriend, fits in perfectly! She’s Sheldon except a woman. One episode I would love to see them do is a makeover episode for Amy. I think that would pull in plenty of viewers. From drab nerd to fashionable beauty. I also think it’s about time they  finally give Sheldon a girlfriend. I’d definitely watch that.

A little bit about The Big Bang Theory:

The Big Bang Theory is created by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady. It has won the best comedy series TCA award and Jim Parsons won the award for individual achievement in comedy. The show has also won People’s Choice Award for Favorite Comedy and Parsons also won an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor In a Comedy Series. He was also awarded a Golden Globe for Best Performance By An Actor In A Television Series-Comedy or Musical. Something you may not know is originally the writers went a completely different direction with the characters in the original pilot. Only Johnny Galecki and Jim Parsons were in the cast and the female lead, Katie,  was played by Amanda Walsh and was envisioned as tough but vulnerable on the inside. They refused to pick up the series but gave them a chance to revise it because, as hard as it is to believe, it sucked. They rewrote the entire thing and cast Kaley and Simon and Kunal and were finally approved to air what would later be known as one of the funniest shows on TV.

Cast:

Johnny Galecki as Leonard Hofstadter, Sheldon’s roommate and friend and in earlier episodes he was dating Penny.

Jim Parsons as Sheldon Cooper, Leonard’s brainiac roommate with OCD tendencies.

Kaley Cuoco as Penny, Leanord and Sheldon’s good-looking but intellectually challenged next door neighbor.

Simon Helberg as Howard Wolowitz, the overly confident friend with a loud wardrobe.

Kunal Nayyar as Rajesh Koothrappali, the shy friend who can’t talk to women without drinking alcohol.

Mayim Bialik as Dr. Amy Farrah Fowler, Sheldon’s friend.

Melissa Rauch as Bernadette Rostenkowski, Penny’s co-worker and Howard’s girlfriend.

Being Erica

being erica

Being Erica is a TV show that is wonderfully well written with an extremely funny and talented cast.

Filmed in Canada, Being Erica starts off with the main character Erica Strange, who is thirty something and bumbling through life with failed attempts at romance and her career. She is approached by Dr. Tom, a psychiatrist, who promises her the ultimate opportunity, to go back in time and fix her mistakes.

Filled with quirky, amazing characters, Being Erica is one of those little known shows that deserves plenty of credit. Each show is filled with moral dilemmas that each and every viewer can take and apply to their own lives. I find myself tuning in to Being Erica every week with excitement and that is why I give this show 5/5.

It was confirmed that season four of Being Erica was its last and final season. For me the final episode of season 4 still left me with questions and I really wish they would have continued on into season 5 because there was a lot more they could have done with the show.

Cast:

Erin Karpluk as Erica Strange.
Adam Fergus as Adam Fitzpatrick, Erica’s fellow time travelling partner.
Joanna Douglas as Samantha Strange-MacIntosh, Erica’s sister.
Michael Riley as Dr. Tom, the mysterious therapist who helps treat Erica.
Reagan Pasternak as Julianne Giacomelli, Erica’s partner at 50/50 press.
Vinessa Antoine as Judith, Erica’s best friend.
Morgan Kelly as Brent Kennedy, Erica and Juliannes competition.

Sons Of Anarchy

Sons Of Anarchy came as a true surprise to me. My husband and I had nothing else to watch one night so we rented the first season of Sons Of Anarchy and after episode one we became addicted. Filled with an amazing cast, fantastic writing and tons of twists and turns in each and every episode it keeps you on the edge of your seat during each one hour show.

Sons Of Anarchy begins in a fictional town named Charming in Northern California. It takes a look at the gritty, sometimes violent lives of a close-knit outlaw motorcycle club named The Sons Of Anarchy. The show revolves around the main character Jackson “Jax” Teller, the Vice President of the club, who begins to question the club and himself.

Sons of Anarachy is filled with characters I’ve come to love. A mother named Gemma (some might recognize her as Peggy from Married With Children) who feels occasional guilt from past mistakes and her son Jackson’s association with the club, Jackson’s girlfriend Tara who is a succesful doctor, and the main character Jackson who struggles between loyalty to the club, dealing with the violence of the club and his father that passed away with a dying wish that his son not repeat the same mistakes he did as a member of the club.

Sons Of Anarchy first aired on September 3rd, 2008 on the cable network FX and the third season of Sons Of Anarchy attracted 4.9 million viewers per week making it FX’s highest rated show ever. The fourth season of Sons Of Anarchy is set to air in the Fall of 2011.
